Guardian support services
If you are legally appointed as a Private or Enduring Guardian, we are here to help you with information about your role and support you in your guardianship practice through our guardian support services.
We provide information on:

your rights and responsibilities as a guardian

making decisions for the person you are guardian for, including in complex or conflicting situations

resources and services for people with disability

how to advocate for the person you are guardian for

where to access other relevant services and support.
We do not:

supervise your actions or decisions as a guardian

provide individual advocacy.

Definitions
- decision-making disability
A disability that impacts a person’s ability to make decisions, such as dementia, intellectual disability, brain injury, or a mental illness.
- Private Guardian
A person appointed by the Guardianship Division of the NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal or the Supreme Court of NSW to make health and lifestyle decisions on your behalf if you cannot make them yourself.
